Hybrid Power Station to lead the global transition to cleaner energy

12/09/2022

Liontown partners with Zenith Energy for one of the largest off-grid hybrid power stations for a mining project in Australia

We are pleased to announce that we are partnering with Zenith Energy, one of Australia’s leading independent power producers, for the supply of electricity to the Kathleen Valley Lithium Project in Western Australia. The agreement covers a period of 15 years and marks a significant step towards our sustainable energy goals.

Zenith Energy will provide 46MW of emissions-free power generation capacity to the Kathleen Valley Lithium Project and the project’s 95MW hybrid power station is set to become one of the largest off-grid renewable energy installations in Australia, boasting a combination of wind, solar, and battery storage capabilities.

Designed to operate in “engine off” mode during periods of high wind and solar resource, the thermal components of the power station will enable Liontown to run entirely on renewable energy. This innovative approach aligns with our commitment to minimizing our carbon footprint and promoting sustainable practices.

Zenith Energy will be incentivised to maximize the use of renewable power and will strive to operate the power station in a manner that maximizes the utilisation of renewable energy sources.

Liontown Resources is committed to sustainable development and operations. By incorporating a significant amount of renewable energy into the project’s power supply, we aim to produce industry leading carbon emissions and contribute to the global transition towards cleaner energy sources.

We are on track to achieve our goals of producing world-class, sustainable lithium operations, contributing to the green energy revolution and supporting the global demand for clean, renewable resources.
