Liontown supports community spirit and wellbeing at regional sporting events

24/10/2025

Sporting events help bring the community together and promote health and wellbeing, and Liontown is proud to get behind local initiatives to support those in the region.

Earlier this month, Liontown, Qube and Sirrom partnered up to support the Wiluna community’s weeklong sports carnival to celebrate NAIDOC, filled with friendly competition and community spirit.

Liontown was proud to support the event, with ESG team members Jeremy Neesham, Lily Grace and Ava Nielsen, alongside Dakota Harris from our Kathleen Valley village services provider, Sirrom, representing the team on the ground. The group cooked a community barbecue for approximately 200 people at the Wiluna Oval, in collaboration with TMPAC’s and sponsors.

Our haulage partner, Qube, generously donated new sports jerseys for Tjiwarl member Henry Ashwin’s team – the Wararn Crows. Their support made it possible for the team to take part in the event and uplifted the community spirit.

The event was a wonderful example of community connection and partnership, bringing together organisations, families, and young people to celebrate culture, sport, and NAIDOC pride.

More recently, Liontown proudly supported two Tjiwarl members’ teams participating in the Goldfields Aboriginal Football Carnival by providing team jerseys.

Liontown funded Warrick Tullock’s team, the Sons, and, in partnership with Bellevue Gold, provided jerseys for Eddie Beaman’s team, the Roos.

Eddie Beaman shared his appreciation, saying:

“We extend our sincere gratitude for your invaluable assistance in securing the sponsorship. Your support has been instrumental in helping us achieve our goals, and we are deeply appreciative of your dedication. This sponsorship will significantly contribute to our initiatives, allowing us to deliver quality and impactful results. Thank you for your generous contribution and unwavering support.”

The Goldfields Aboriginal Football Carnival is one of the region’s longest-running community sporting events, drawing hundreds of players, families, and spectators from across the Northern Goldfields. Held annually in Kalgoorlie–Boulder, the carnival celebrates over 50 years of Aboriginal sporting talent, teamwork, and cultural pride. It has become an important gathering that strengthens community connection and showcases the incredible skill of Aboriginal footballers from towns across the Goldfields–Esperance region.

Liontown is proud to stand behind initiatives that promote community spirit, teamwork, wellbeing and connection across the Northern Goldfields
