Kathleen Valley to Geraldton, driving the transition
30/09/2025Liontown has marked one year since the first shipment of Kathleen Valley spodumene concentrate left the Port of Geraldton.
Since that first cargo, we sold 16 shipments up to 30 June 2025 – all safely hauled from Kathleen Valley to Geraldton by our logistics partner, Qube. Moving roughly 1000 tonnes every day, Qube’s purpose-built Ultra-Quad road trains travel the 700km route, carrying our product to port.
The Liontown and Qube teams work closely together with regular communication and planning. The Ultra-Quads were purpose-built in WA with special left-hand tip trailers to improve safety and efficiency. At Geraldton, Qube operates a dedicated storage facility for Liontown’s concentrate, ready for loading onto vessels.
Safety has been a key focus from day one. Since haulage began, the operation has achieved zero lost time injuries and no recordable on-road incidents across approximately four million kilometres travelled.
A big thank you to Liontown’s Shipping & Logistics Principal, Janet, and Qube Geraldton Operations Manager, Zane, for helping explain how it all comes together.
